Sports Day Update

                                                 Please note, the KS1 Sports Day is now at 10am. on the 7th. July. The KS2 Sports Day is now 9.30am. on the 18th. July weather permitting.

Junior Music Festival

Year 3,4,5 and 6 RPS junior music festival On 15 th June, ma ny schools take part for the Junior Music Festival in the Southend region. We started learning the songs in January and then performed the final concert at the Cliffs Pavilion, Southend. Please click the picture below to view all photographs.

Skype With France

Last Thursday our Bumblebees class skyped our friends in France at La Cachette School. Children performed 'Head Shoulders Knees & Toes' in French ‘La Tête’ Les épaules, les genoux et les pieds and played the French version of Simon Says, ‘Jacques a dit’ which was great fun ! Monsieur Jean-Pierre the French Head Teacher of La Cachette School also greeted us with a ‘Bonjour’                                                                               Click Here

Dear Parents,  Please find attached details of Open Air theatre this Summer at Rayleigh Mount. Adult tickets are £10, kids tickets are £5 (under 3’s are free) and family tickets are £25.

Rocket Science

On the 2 nd September 2015 2 kilograms of rocket seed were sent to the International Space Station and stored in microgravity by Tim Peake, before the seeds were returned to Earth in spring 2016. Year 2 were fortunate in being able to conduct an experiment with two packets of the rocket seed. One pack was blue and one pack was red. One of the seed packets had been stored in space, the other hadn’t. We have no idea which is which. Our experiment, which was kindly overseen by Dr. Ross consisted of both packets of seeds, red and blue, being sown in identical conditions by Year 2 in an effort to discover whether storing the seeds in microgravity made any difference to the germination process.                                         Please use the below link to view our photographs                                                                                                                                                                                   

Music Madness

It’s that time of year again when the choir of Rayleigh Primary perform an outstanding Performance! On Wednesday 15 th June 2016, the choir joined lots of other schools for the performance of a lifetime: The Cliffs Pavilion. Over 100 people were in the audience inspired by their singing. Jessie in 5DF got a special mention by Mr Whittems one of the crazy conductors!  Our music teachers Mr Hack and Mrs Smith worked extremely hard on this concert and everyone is proud of him. Sports Day

KS2 sports day is on Monday 20 th next week. Sports include sprint, long distance, skipping, hockey and skipping, egg and spoon race a sack race and obstacle race(with net). Mr S. has also picked eight fast, fit and furious children from each house to compete in the relay!! Maddie from 5JB (Normans) is taking part in obstacle race and she will be against Lexie in the egg and spoon race as well. Lexie is also going for gold for the Danes in the skipping race. Danes, Romans, Normans, Saxons…. Which team are you on? By Lexie and Maddie 5JB

Reception visit from the 'Lizard Man'

Reception children were very lucky to have a visit from some unusual reptiles and insects. The children found out about a blue tongued skink, an albino boa and a gecco as well as many other creatures.

Prizes at Rayleigh Primary School!

There was a long queue in the hall. There were giggles of excitement and smiles of happiness. The dinnerladies were handing out the plates of food. For lunch, there was Chicken teddies, Curly fries, Spaghetti hoops and a chocolate chip muffin.  The prizes were Zomblings, loombands and Lego figures. Mr Burton, who was very angry, was wondering where the chicken pie was, as it is his favourite. Here is a quote from Mr Burton ‘Where is the Chicken Pie!". But Rhianna  and Alexandra from 5JB brightened up his lunch time as all ways. A quote from Lexie ‘You could see that he was disappointed from the dis - hearted look in his eyes.’ YUM YUM !!

Royal Celebrations

This week, RPS is set to be royally happy, celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s 90 th birthday, which was on the 21 st of April; almost 2 months ago! Students (and teachers!) are dressing up as characters or famous people from the past 90 years. They could also choose to wear red , white and blue. KS2 will be dancing the waltz, and the whole school will be performing Gangnam Style and Whip Nae Nae. We will be having a street party, a picnic and will be making lots of arts and crafts in honour of the Queen. Happy birthday!!! By Alexandra 5JB Queen age 10 Queen age 19 Queen age 90
