Drawing and Colouring Competition Miss Yang and nineteen other schools are holding a competition for pupils to draw a picture that represents where they come from. It must be a building from your home town. Of course, many iconic buildings were drawn: the windmill, the Dutch cottage, the Holy Trinity Church and the train station. All of the art works had incredibly positive reactions and were very impressive. Thank you to all of the children who took part and good luck! X By Liv and Jess X

I nterschools! On March 13 th , Maddie, Lexie, Olivia, Jessie, Oliver, Luke, Jude, Megan and Amber-Rae competed in a category quiz at Downhall Primary School, against the hosting school, Wyburns and Edward Francis. Down below are the categories and who represented in them: General Knowledge: Luke and Lexie Roald Dahl: Jessie and Olivia Connections: Olivia and Maddie Superheroes: Amber-Rae and Oliver Cars: Luke and Jude Celebrities and films: Lexie and Oliver Sports: Jude and Amber-Rae Food and drink: Maddie and Megan Downhall came fourth with around 50 points, Rayleigh next with 99 points, Wyburns following with 105 points and Edward Francis in the lead with 110 points. Sadly we just missed out on the second round. (We would like to also thank Miss Mason for giving up her Tuesday lunchtimes to train us!) Year 3 went on the hunt for evidence of a dragon, which was reportedly sighted over Rayleigh last weekend. News came in today that the cat and dog have been returned, safe and sound, with new collars...so it looks like it must be a friendly beast! Please click below to view more photos....

The Nursery children went to Rayleigh Library. They listened to a story and joined in with a song then chose their own books to share with their friend or an adult. They were beautifully behaved and a credit to the school.

Nursery children have been reading Fairy Stories this week.  We read 'The Gingerbread Man' and the children made their own gingerbread. We talked about how the dough changes when it is cooked.

This week School Award is presented for Manners in the Dining Hall.  Well done to all the nominees.

Today we had a talk from the Fire Service. Please see the below leaflet which explains how to get smoke alarms free of charge.                                                  

The residents at Gordon Roughly Court kindly gave us a donation to buy something for our garden.  The children delivered thank you letters and cards when making our weekly visit.

Our Quiz! On Tuesday 7 th March, Maddie, Luke, Jessie and Lexie from year six made up the team that competed in a quiz situated at Wybournes Primary School. During the quiz, we played games and completed work sheets to gain points against the eight other school opposing. The rounds were: speed spell, missing nouns, picking points from text and root words. Overall, Rayleigh Primary earned 98 points and came joint third with Brightside Primary School, unfortunately missing out on round two by 4 points. We were very pleased with our results nevertheless, and hope to do even better in the quiz we are competing in on Monday 13 th . We’ll keep you posted, Lexie and Maddie x

B L O G C L U B Hello! Our names are Madeleine Ramsey and Alexandra Bonnet aka Maddie and Lexie from 6DM. We will be running blog club this year alongside our favourite year 6s, Jessie and Olivia from 6HA. We will be blogging about the events currently happening all around the school such as the competition that year 6 has entered called interschool. Jessie and Olivia are blogging about this topic. W o r l d B o o k D a y On 2 nd March, Rayleigh Primary school outshone every other school with our fascinating costumes! From the wizarding world of Harry Potter to magical, majestic Disney princesses, everybody’s day was enlightened. Pupils were kept entertained by doing lots of amusing activities. We were all asked to bring the book that our character was from so we could do a book review on it. Children came dressed as their favourite book characters today, so our classes were full of Harry Potters, Friendly Giants, Fairies, Witches, mice, Superheroes, and princesses. We even had Thing 1! All the children had a very exciting day and especially enjoyed reading the story about Freddie and the Fairy with Mrs. Gilbert. Pl click below to view more....

Year 1 made pancakes in groups and had a go at flipping them. We also had a pancake tossing race which was so much fun! We also got to eat some pancakes with lemon or maple syrup. They were yummy!!!! Click below to view more photos....
