Merry Christmas to you all from all of us at Journalism Club. We have had a wonderful term creating news articles and reading about our rapidly changing world;in fact, it has been so busy, that we are considering adding more members to help us. Rayleigh Primary 's Year Six children hosted a talent show this afternoon and it reminded me how lucky we are to have such lovely children who care, encourage and  support each other across the school. The standard was extremely high with some fantastic dancing, singing and some very funny jokes.Well done to all of you and to the super audience who encouraged all of the participants. Have a wonderful Christmas holiday and wishing you a happy and healthy new year.
Blatcher's Blog Season's greetings from all of us at Journalism Club. It has been a very busy few weeks with our journalists busy planning articles and creating chaos in the ICT suite during Wednesday lunchtimes! Everyone enjoyed the visit to the pantomime last week and we decided that the highlight was not , in fact ,the Shetland ponies appearance but Mr Leeman's debut as an actor! If all else fails Mr.Leeman, Hollywood is calling ! It has been a real pleasure to watch the children become absorbed in the process of writing  and reading as a writer;they have been a credit to the school in their dedicated approach and hard work. Well done !

Please don't forget our Shoe Box Appeal !

Image
Dear Parents and Carers, Rayleigh Primary School will be supporting a school in Africa this Christmas by taking part in the Shoe Box Appeal. We would very much appreciate your support in this endeavour by donating as many shoe boxes as possible filled with old or unwanted toys and clothes . All completed shoe boxes must be decorated to suit the intended gender of the child; pink for a girl or blue for a boy. In order to provide resources for a range of ages, we would request that the items you provide are suitable for a child of the same age as your own. We would like all shoe box donations to be brought into school by Friday 14th December , so that the Unicef reps can collect them from each classroom. Thank you for your ongoing support. Mr Leeman Assistant Head Teacher

Rayleigh Christmas lights are being switched on this Thursday and we are sure we will have lots to write about. All of us enjoyed the pantomime yesterday and it left us feeling very excited about our impending trip next week. Keep reading !

Well, Journalism club has been resembling the BBC News Room every Wednesday as twenty one of us now meet and share our journalistic knowledge and findings! We must mention Lauren in Year Five, who had an excellent article published in Southend United's Programme; a terrific achievement! The children are busy writing articles, preparing pieces of text and generally having fun with words every Wednesday . Such fun!

Every child in the school made a poppy for Armistice Day.

Positive Parenting Course

Image
Being a parent can be both rewarding and challenging. This course aims to help parents build even stronger family relationships. The six sessions focus on children from 5 to 11 years. Sharing ideas with other parents and carers is a key element of the courses. It includes group discussions and practical tasks to help parents build on their strengths and to think about any changes they want to make.
